Patient Sitter SO

Job Summary:
The sitter is an employee, trained to provide companionship, observation, and surveillance of assigned patients that are in the acute care hospital setting. The Adult Sitter summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. He/she functions under the direction, instruction and supervision of the staff nurse at the hospital and Manager.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience: None
Licensure: None
Skills & Abilities: Ability to read, write, consistent with job requirements. Ability effectively to communicate with patients at the bedside if required, ability to communicate using microphone and headset. Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes. Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, family members, visitors, and staff. Practices good hygiene and is neat in personal appearance. Ability to remain alert, coherent, and to observe and survey patient at all times during work time, and to communicate with patient in a calm and respectful manner.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
