## Description
Job Summary
Responsible for providing day-to-day guidance and support for safety and health management within the business unit. Monitors compliance with all applicable governmental regulations and company safety requirements. Uses technical and business-unit specific knowledge to facilitate the development of improvement initiatives regarding safety and industrial hygiene. Assists in identifying root cause of problems and develops recommendations and communicates solutions. Assists business units in incident investigations and the identification of root causes and corrective actions. Performs walk-downs and conducts audits to identify unsafe practices, procedures or conditions.
Key Accountabilities
Provides subject matter expertise for all safety health and compliance programs for the business units.
Monitors and coordinates the safety activities of business unit support personnel.
Recommends process improvements to meet overall requirements of the business unit.
Assists in developing organizational goals and monitors workflow and corrective action progress toward meeting goals.
Leads teams and safety committees in improvement initiatives to achieve improvement in all areas.
Analyzes data for process and organizational improvement.
Assists in regulatory compliance efforts as they pertain to the business unit.
Assists in developing safety and industrial hygiene procedures and programs to improve safety and industrial hygiene performance within the assigned business unit.
Assists the business unit in incident investigations and uses fact based analysis to help determine root causes of safety/IH problems and develops recommendations for appropriate corrective actions.
Conducts audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
## Qualifications
Minimum
Bachelor's degree in business (HR, industrial relations, management, accounting, industrial psychology or a directly related discipline (excludes human & social services disciplines); proficiency in MS Office sufficient to apply it with minimal instruction or guidance (this level of proficiency typically attainable through 1-plus year(s) of substantive experience with the applications). This is typically an entry-level job.
Preferred
Bachelors of Science in Health, Safety, Physical Sciences or related field and a minimum of 6 months of related experience in the safety/industrial hygiene field (This experience could include internships, co-op activity, and full time employment)
Proficient verbal (and non-verbal), written and presentation skills; communicates clearly, with credibility and confidence.
Analytical & problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations.
Competent in multi-tasking (i.e. the ability to prioritize & manage multiple tasks, issues or projects that may include high-visibility initiatives and require innovation, teamwork & planning).
Ability to work in a 'team' and/or 'matrixed' structure, supporting multiple clients.
Flexibility & the ability to work with shifting priorities; embrace new/evolving responsibilities.
Copes with multiple demands from superiors, peers & client groups in a positive and even-handed fashion; displays a calm demeanor under pressure.
Must receive a recommended score on a pre-hire assessment

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
